There
are two ways to set the dimensions of character in animations, which
were made by Macromedia ® Flash ™ or Corel ® R.A.V.E.
™ programs. We need to know the details of font in order to choice
the better way.
Usually,
the name of the font is "Fontname_Style_Pixel",
for example FixedPix_Bold_7. The represented number does not give enough
information about the particular type.
These
kinds of pixelfont are shown on the basis of their dimensions, that was
set in Flash ™!. Usually the compared dimensions are 8, 10, 12
points. These numbers show the dimensions, which were set in Flash ™.
If the font is made for 8 points Flash ™ dimension, then the mentioned
FixedPix_Bold_7 will be actually 7 points. When we make fonts, keep it
before our eyes,
that the fonts are designed for 8 points between 5 and 8 points, for
10 points between 9 and 10, for 12 points between 11 and 12 points. We
can get known about this feature from only the font-foundry. Usually
this data is not public when we download free pixelfonts. It's practical
to choose the pixelfonts on the basis of dimension in its name. We can
enlarge the fonts only event multiple (2x, 4x, 6x…) without losing quality,
and readability. So we will get the 14 points real size at a 7 points
(it is set Flash 8 points) charatcer (2x multiple), if we set 16 points.

(traditional pixelfont)
There
is an other and easier way to present pixelfont perfectly in Flash
™. In this case the number in fontname shows the suggested
size. This will result a more precision and sharper presentation.
It is
practical
to enlarge by whole number miltiple, but You can use the font enlarged
by odd number. This way is much easier to set dimension. The developers
can use twice as much sizes, without losing quality. The fonts of
PixelFonts Library ™ were made this way.
